From the end of the 60s and into the 80s - usually embroidered – often muslin – mostly white. People sat around in them, married in them, wore them to work, went to the beach.

There were wonderful quality Indian cottons - - so comfortable and practical for the Australian summer.

High street copied the cheap  Indian and South American imports so they were fashion as well as hippie-  - and later came Indonesion Batic - the Kabayas and sarongs

Traditional costume came with immigrants from Eastern and Western Europe and if it became fashionable then High street picked it up.
